Self Defense at All Star Karate is taught in various forms.
- Countering - striking to escape from an attack.
- Joint Controls - manipulating or locking joints to help an escape.
- Take Downs - causing an opponent to fall without their feet leaving the ground.
- Throws - causing an opponent to fall with their feet leaving the ground.
- Pressure Points - applying pressure to special areas of the body.
- Ground - self defense while lying on the ground as if pinned.
- Breakfalls - learning to fall in a safer manner.
Other types of defense are taught at the higher belt levels including: chokes, defense
against weapons, defense against multiple attackers.
Self Defense is the practical use of Martial Arts to protect oneself and others.
