History
Somewhere between 1300-1600 A.D. the ancient weapon martial art known today
as kobudo was said to have developed in Okinawa. Coming from the main land of
Japan, the samurai clan of Satsuma invaded Okinawa. The Okinawan people were
forbidden to posses traditional weapons such as swords, bow and arrow, and knives
by the Satsuma. Still needing to protect themselves from the hostile Satsuma and
other attackers, the Okinawans developed common implements into powerful
weapons of self defense.
Many things were turned into weapons. To the left are links to some of the most
popular ones which are taught here at All Star Karate Academy.
